STEP BACK IN TIME WITH FERRAGAMO
Ferragamo goes back in time recreating some of its most iconic shoes & handbags and is bringing them to selected boutiques around the world.
The collection known as Ferragamo's Creations was founded in 2006 for a concept store near the Ferragamo Museum in Florence, Italy.
Pieces from Ferragamo's Creations have been reproduced in a limited edition range & are sold year-round in select boutiques, with the next temporary installation arriving in Orange County USA’s South Coast Plaza, marking its fourth destination.
Shoes in the collection include $2,500USD rainbow wedges originally made for Judy Garland (pictured) & $3,900USD platforms with gold mirrors inspired by Carmen Miranda.
The archives stretch from Ferragamo's work in the 1920s until he died in 1960, with the Ferragamo's Creations handbags designed by his daughter Fiamma in the '80s.
No more than 500 of each piece is made in this new edition & each is numbered, with buyers receive an authenticity certificate.
The collection will continue to be on display & for sale through May 5 in the USA.

JOSS STONE FOR NINE WEST
Grammy Award-winning English R&B singer Joss Stone will be designing a capsule collection for Fall 2010 under Nine West's Vintage America brand (ironic, given she’s British).
The vintage-inspired theme makes sense for the songstress whose trademark look is relaxed bohemian (pictured above for GAP).
According to WWD, the shoes will retail for approximately $70 - $120USD & it is rumoured the mini collection will have three styles, all of which will be are inspired by Stone's "personal style."
Proceeds from the shoes will go to benefit Soles4Souls, a charity that donates shoes to those in need.
This could be interesting?

McQUEEN'S LAST HURRAH
Alexander McQueen's final collection is bound to have shoe aficionados, & the rest of the fashion world, awestruck.
A far cry from the 12” Armadillo heels of last season these delightfully sculptured stilts may just be a little more, wearable shall we say, for those other than Vikki B (aka Victoria Beckham) or Lady Gaga.
With Angels & Demons for inspiration the collection features wings, twigs, flowers, feathers, leaves, leather & the ever luxurious metallics.
Jump on a wait list & start saving, these are keeper pieces!

GET NUDE
Glamorous celebrities & A-Lister's dazzled on last night’s ‘orange’ carpet at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards.
While metallics, strappy heels & satin platform pumps were donned by the gals the men rocked it out with fancy cowboy boots or stylish black dress shoes. It was an evening of country glamour, heartfelt awards & great performances.
The absolute standout shoe trend for the night was nude, my pick in the new Spring Summer Collections.
Those who did nude well were Faith Hill (pictured with husband Tim McGraw), looking fresh in a white fitted dress & nude platform heels & Kristin Bell in a flesh-toned Max Azria dress & nude cut-out heels.
Nude shoe possibilities are infinite & best of all – they make those pins look longer.
So get nude!

AND THE WINNER IS... Danielle Steele
Oh I do love a serious shoe addict & despite the procurement efforts of Imelda Marcos & Paris Hilton (who estimates her collection to be in excess of 2,000) the winner is, Danielle Steele, with an outstanding 6,000 pairs of Christian Louboutin stilts.
In May’s issue of Vanity Fair, titled “The Godfather of Sole,” the shoe King professes his business grew by double digits in 2009 (he sells more than 340,000 pairs of shoes annually, with prices that can reach $2,000).
Louboutin’s best customers acquire dozens of shoes annually but his “supertop customer” is author Danielle Steel, who reportedly has at least 6,000 pairs. “She comes to Paris, & she literally buys everything. Then she flies back to New York, says, ‘I’m a little disappointed — there’s nothing in the store,’ & walks out with 80 pairs,” he grinned. “She is super.” Pretty romantic if you ask me!
With a reported net worth of approximately $50 million it is easy to see how she could invest in such a large collection of luxury footwear.
Best known for her mainstream drama novels, Danielle Steel has sold more than 580 million copies of her books worldwide and is the seventh best selling writer of all time.
Maybe it’s time to change my writing style? I could do romance & drama – surely…

VUITTON’S YETI CHIC CLOG MANIA
You have to love Louis Vuitton. A design house that shoots out vast numbers of sensible, conservative shoes for the Doctor’s wife then sends Yeti Chic down the runway.
The runway usually sees a designer's more extreme & far-fetched creations & the Louis Vuitton's Spring Summer 2010 collection is no exception.
Featuring colourful metallics, tufts of fur, outrageous tassels & bespoke-like kitten heels they are very Yeti Chic.
The Daisy Closed-Toe Mule (top) has pony-styled calf leather in mocha with a camo-green tuft of goat's wool, a wooden sole, contrasting rose metal hardware accents & a one inch heel.
Expect plenty of monogrammed denim, sheep's wool, clog interpretations & rivets. Love Vuitton.
For more go to Louis Vuitton.

McQUEEN FOR PUMA
The legendary Alexander McQueen lives on with this glamorous addition to the McQueen range for Puma’s Spring Summer 2010.
The AMQ Elevate fuses sports & fashion. Trainers & a wedge heel in one – what’s not to love?
The sole combines a high vulcanised rubber wedge with elastic strapping that wraps from the upper to the heel. Inspired by the seasonal AMQ theme of combat, the styling of the upper is an interpretation of the strapping wrapped around a boxer’s hands. Puma says the bandage theme makes the construction of the upper with stretch webbing crossing across the vamp & quarters. The style laces across the vamp without a tongue for a de-constructed summer feel.
Retailing for $300, I vote this the best trainer this season. For stockists call 1800 811 511 or got to Puma.
Love, love, love!

TALKING TRENDS WITH TARA MOSS
With respect to Trend Hunter Mag, I had to repost this interview with my friend & self confessed shoe addict, Tara Moss.
This gal is all style.
TARA MOSS, Author Of 'SIREN' INTERVIEW
Tara Moss began her career as an international model, but she soon found a passion for writing and has since become a crime thriller novelist. Her latest installment, ‘Siren,’ is her fifth novel about a woman on a mission to find a missing 19-year-old.
13 Questions with Tara Moss:
1. How do you keep your work on the cutting edge?
I research my novels heavily - spending time in morgues, cop cars, at crime scenes and most recently being set on fire and choked unconscious for scenes in my fifth novel, ‘Siren.’ I find that having a totally hands-on approach keeps my books fresh, exciting and different. I am particularly drawn to taboo subjects, or experiences others might shy away from.
2. How do you reset yourself to become creative? Do you have any rituals?
Once a book is off to the printers I begin the process of letting go of it, and moving on to the next story. Once I have a solid inspiration about what I want to write next, I throw myself into the research first - and headfirst - studying and having any kind of wild experience I might be able to use. I might not write a word of a new novel until I have already researched it for several months.
3. What is an example of a time where you have thrown away an existing idea to force yourself to find something new?
I have on a number of occasions thrown away planned plot lines to follow new directions mid-book. Sometimes the book you think you will write is not the book you end up with. I feel it is important to remain flexible with the creative process and always be prepared for new ideas. I have even spontaneously killed off characters I didn’t know I would murder!
4. How did you get involved in writing and what motivates you to continue?
I was raised in a household of books, and I always sought out the books I wasn’t allowed to read. I hid copies of Stephen King novels in my mattress, and at the age of ten I was writing Stephen King-style horror novelettes for my classmates. My friends wanted to be written in and killed off, such is the morbid curiosity of children, and so my first stories involved a demonic car killing them off, Christine-style (the King novel, ‘Christine’). They used to wait for class to get their own handwritten chapter.
5. How significant are the topics of cool hunting and trend spotting in the world of fiction?
I think it is vital to stay up to date with what is going on in the world, and to have a sense of the ‘modern life’ in contemporary writing. I often include gadgets, Internet trends and new technology in my stories, because it adds more realism, depth and relate-ability to the characters I am writing.
6. How do you define cool?
Real cool is ineffable, undefined, but absolutely undeniable.
7. How do you define a trend?
A trend is a collective excitement about something new. Trends come and go, but the really interesting and clever inventions and fashions have a way of staying on and remaining relevant long after the trend has passed.
8. What is the coolest aspect about your latest novel?
My main character, Mak, is the coolest aspect of my novels. She is tough, sexy, and smart, and she lives in a dangerous, exciting world.
9. Professionally, what do you want to be doing in 10 years?
I want to be writing, and traveling the world as pilot of my own light aircraft - an authoress and adventuress.
10. If you weren’t a writer, what would your dream profession be?
If I wasn’t a writer - which I can’t honestly imagine - I would certainly be a psychologist. I am fascinated by human psychology and motivation, and many of my plots are driven by psychology.
11. What are your favorite hobbies?
Riding motorcycles, playing with big pythons, learning new skills, and collecting licenses for everything from reptile handling, to PI work to race car driving
12. If you could work with anyone in the world, who would it be and what would you do?
The late, great erotic writer and intellectual Anais Nin. We would work at getting ourselves into trouble. Which wouldn’t be hard.
13. Who is your favorite writer of the moment, and what makes them cool to you?
Stephen King will always hold a special place in my heart. And Anais Nin. And Roald Dahl. And Mary Shelley. And Bram Stoker. And Thomas Harris. And Ian McEwan. And Charles Bukowski… and… As you can see, I have too many literary loves.

FIFTY SHOES THAT CHANGED THE WORLD
Nothing like a little history. Fifty Shoes That Changed the World tells the tale of the top 50 shoe designs that have made a substantial impact in the world of British design today.
Created by Design Museum, it documents the changes in shoe designs over the past century & a half; a time period in which innovations in materials have allowed unimagined styles to emerge. Items of mass production & those made by hand, the stories in this book are a vast treasure trove of the cheap & replaceable, along with those that are works of art.
Consulting editor Deyan Sudjic notes that in the Museum’s temporary exhibits over 20 years the most popular has been the retrospective of Manolo Blahnik in 2003, when HBO’s Sex & the City brought his styles to the public eye.
Retailing @ $29.95, this is the perfect gift for shoe aficionados. Go to Borders online.

Just when I think they can no longer surprise me those fabulous peeps at Jimmy Choo pull another rabbit out of their proverbial hat.
Not only did they produce the first light up stiletto I would actually wear this season, but next – they are launching a trainer.
I don’t suspect any training will actually be done in them but damn they’re hot.

With a mix of high tops & low cuts, they are sleek & luxurious in patent leather, suede & exotic Elaphe snake skin they will retail from $465-$595USD.
A big shout out to my Hawaiian Jimmy Choo connection for the news. Thanks Joell & Rose!
Available in US Jimmy Choo Boutiques from May 2010 – I am told the waiting list is now open.

Move over motor enthusiasts, fashion is stepping in.
eBay has launched a microsite for fashionistas at Fashion.eBay.com, & deemed it tab-worthy. The company will also launch a fashion outlet store & says changes in the Clothing, Shoes & Accessories category will make style-savvy shoppers think of eBay as the place to find "great fashion at great values."
The new fashion site landed a spot on the top navigation bar that displays across the eBay.com website, which now reads; Categories, Fashion, Motors, Stores, & Daily Deal. "Fashion Vault" also appears when there is an active sale.
eBay Fashion serves up an average of 19 million listings daily so if you’re looking for a shoe bargain, get to it!
